Financial Product Solicitation

DIAM Co., Ltd. will comply with the following five principles and offer financial products appropriately to customers.

  1. We, DIAM Co., Ltd. will offer financial products that are appropriate in light of the needs, knowledge, experience, and asset status of customers.
  2. Given such possibilities as a decrease in the principal of customer assets, we will explain financial products so that customers will properly understand product specifics, the nature of risk, and other important matters.
  3. We will avoid solicitations that would invite misunderstandings by customers, such as stating conclusions or providing false information.
  4. We will not solicit during times or at places that may be inconvenient for customers.
  5. We will enhance training programs, develop internal rules, and make other efforts to solicit appropriately in accordance with this solicitation policy.
Privacy Policy for the Protection of Customer Information

DIAM Co., Ltd. has established and is disclosing the following privacy policy for the protection of customer information (hereinafter referred to as "privacy policy").

Guiding Policies

We, DIAM Co., Ltd. believe that the appropriate protection and use of personal information is an important social responsibility. To protect the personal information of customers, we will comply with related laws and orders such as the Law on the Protection of Personal Information, this privacy policy, and other internal regulations on our business activities.

Appropriate Collection

We will collect the personal information of customers appropriately and legally within the scope necessary for our business activities.

Usage Purposes

We will handle the personal information of customers within the scope necessary to achieve our usage purposes, and we will not make use of personal information beyond this scope. When usage purposes for certain personal information are limited by laws or orders, we will not make use of such personal information for any other purpose.

Restrictions on Provision to Third Parties

We will not in principle provide the personal information of customers to third parties without their prior consent or unless required by laws or orders. We may, however, provide the personal information of customers to third parties without their prior consent when contracting out the management of personal information either in whole or in part within the scope necessary to achieve usage purposes or in cases such as a merger.

Treatment of Sensitive Information

Unless provided for by laws or orders or unless agreed to by customers within the scope necessary for conducting business, we will not in principle collect, use or provide the sensitive information (political opinions, religious beliefs, membership in labor unions, race, nationality, family origin, legal domicile, health and medical information, or other such information) about customers to third parties.

Security Management Measures

We will work to maintain and manage the personal information of customers in an accurate and current state and will implement reasonable security management measures to prevent the divulgence of personal information. We will also appropriately supervise staff or service providers handling the personal information of customers.

Ongoing Improvements

We will revise this privacy policy as appropriate in light of the progress of information technology and changes in social needs and will work to make ongoing improvements in the handling of the personal information of customers.

Procedures for Requesting the Release of Personal Information and Other Requests

We will act promptly and in good faith in providing notifications on the usage purposes for the personal information we hold related to customers; in responding to requests for the release of personal information; in making corrections, additions, or deletions when there are errors in the personal data we hold; and in responding to requests on the cessation of use, the deletion, or the cessation of provision to third parties (collectively referred to as "requests for the release of personal data and other requests"). Submission of Opinions or Requests

We would like to hear our customers' opinions or requests on the handling of personal information and will respond promptly and in good faith. Opinions and requests can be submitted to the Corporate Planning Group (+81-3-3216-0101)

Use of Customer Information

DIAM Co., Ltd. ("the Company" hereinafter) will use the personal information of clients within the scope required to achieve the operations and purposes of use described below and will not use it beyond that scope. In the event that there are restrictions under applicable laws and ordinances etc. with respect to the purpose of use for specific personal information, that information will not be used for purposes other than those so designated.

Operations of the Company
  • Investment advisory services, discretionary investment account services, investment trust trustee services and all other ancillary services
  • Other businesses that the Company is allowed to engage in under relevant laws and ordinances etc., and other services ancillary thereto (including any businesses and services that the Company may be permitted to handle in the future)
Purposes of use of the Company
  • Provision of services related to investment advisory agreements or discretionary investment account agreements with the client
  • Provision of services related to investment trust trustee services for the client
  • Reporting of management results, transaction results and balances etc. to the client
  • Solicitation and sale of securities and/or other financial products issued by the Company; provision of information regarding services offered by the Company
  • Determination of appropriateness of providing products and services in light of "suitability principles" etc.
  • Acceptance of applications for the opening of trading accounts etc., or for securities and/or other financial products or services
  • Confirmation of the identity of the client and the identity of the client’s agent(s)
  • Research and development of financial products or services through the implementation of market surveys, data analysis, customer surveys and similar programs
  • Provision of information and performance of operational management with respect to the operations of the Company
  • Other purposes that facilitate the smooth and appropriate fulfillment of transactions with the client
